Make Aachen your next connection

In Germany, Aachen is the world's best kept secret: an intellectual hub and the beginning of Europe as we know it. Here you'll work with colleagues from around the world creating impact in an industry that is at the center of modern life.

If you can create your own options when something doesn't exist yet, this is the place for you. A lot of it is bottom-up: you're given a direction, and then you shape your own area. Come with proposals, initiate,  make it happen. This is the right moment. When something with this much potential is on the table, everyone wants it. We're not too late. We are early.

We are looking for those who want to build something with an impact. Something unseen and something truly innovative. Bright, curious minds who have weathered the storm or those who are not afraid of it. Together, we want to leave a mark – and not a small one – in the semiconductor industry, and we are looking for those who crave for the same. We are growing fast, and we want to grow with you.

Where we work: two locations and growing

One team, novel technology, connected across locations.

Aachen, Germany

Aachen is the headquarters to Black Semiconductor, where the technology connecting the chips of the future is built and where some of the industry's best are relocating to be part of it. Home of the world's first 2D material pilot facility, FabONE, this is where the knowledge behind Black Semiconductor IGP™ technology comes together: integrating electronics and photonics in a single production flow using graphene.
‍
The city of Aachen itself is rich with history and known as the heart of Europe. Living here means be connected to thermal springs, an international community, and Eifel National Park, with Belgium and Netherlands just a short ride away.

Zoetermeer, Netherlands

How to deposit, pattern, grow and integrate graphene on wafers at industrial scale is at the heart of Black Semiconductor's graphene production in Zoetermeer. For ten years, the team has been building the wafer-scale capability critical for the successful development of Black Semiconductor's IGP™ technology. Join graphene experts working with a 2D material that is only at the beginning of its potential.

Zoetermeer pairs deep-tech work with green spaces and lakes. It's located just outside The Hague and well-connected across the Randstad metropolitan area.

After ten years at Silicon Valley, I came straight to Aachen. The Bay area is impressive, but it's built around work.
Aachen gave me something else, people who have time to care about others, and room to actually live, not only work. What connects us here isn't just that three countries meet at the doorstep; it's that we came from all over the world to work on the same breakthrough in technology.

Y. Denizhan Sirmaci
SMTS - Electronic, Photonic & Architecture Design
Electronics has silicon; we think optics should have graphene. When I found Black Semiconductor, we were about 20 people. In a few years we built our entire design infrastructure from scratch, even our own tools.
Nobody arrives fully equipped for something this new, you come, you learn, and you build what didn't exist before.
